Sophia Academy

Sophia Academy is a tuition-free independent middle school in Providence, RI, with a mission to engage girls from economically disadvantaged families on a joyful quest for self‐discovery and opportunity through education grounded in social justice.

The Ewald Foundation grant supports the girls’ basketball program. The Sophia basketball team develops students’ physical skills, enhances self-esteem, encourages individual and team accomplishments, and instills sportsmanship and the spirit of fair play.
